The Underwater Hunter Course 


​Fishing isn't just for on the surface. Dive below the water, and see the world of Underwater Hunting. Whether you're hunting or fishing for dinner, the opportunities are endless. The Underwater Hunter Course is designed to help familiarize divers in the planning, organization, procedures, techniques, problems, hazards and fun of Underwater Hunting. It is meant to teach responsible harvesting of underwater game.

Glide through the water with ease, learn to aim with precision, and shoot with confidence.

What You Learn
  • To develop your practical knowledge of Underwater Hunting and Conservation
  • To enable you to plan and organize your underwater hunting dive
  • Learn to recognize unique problems and hazards related to underwater hunting
  • The effects of hunting on the ecosystem and environment
  • How to manage your buoyancy and other related diving skills unique to underwater hunting
You will put this information into practice during your 2 Open Water dives.

What you Need
Personal snorkeling and diving equipment, a speargun with safety mechanism, appropriate bag(s), stringer, log book, whistle, slate with pencil, knife, and a light for looking under ledges, in wrecks, under rocks, etc.

 *** YOU MUST BE AN EXPERIENCED OPEN WATER DIVER OR HIGHER FOR THIS COURSE***

   This course is designed to evoke a sense of Responsibility & Respect.  It is the Responsibility of every diver to accept & foster a sense of Respect for Aquatic Life & their environment.  

   We will spend 2-3 hours in the classroom, and make 2 dives on a 4-hour trip 

   Along with Responsibility & Respect, it is imperative to know & obey the rules & regulations that govern the sport of Spearfishing.  We will spend a good bit of time discussing what fish, lobsters, and shells can be sustainably harvested, along with species in season & size limits.

   Safety is of the utmost importance!  You must know how to properly handle spearfishing equipment and never be careless or complacent.​
